Associate Professor Shibo Kuang

My research centers on computational process engineering in chemical and metallurgical engineering and mineral processing. Our primary objective is to attain a fundamental understanding, establish theories and methods, optimize processes, and explore new technologies for particulate and multiphase systems. We achieve this by developing and applying both physics-based (mechanistic) models and data-driven (AI) models, supported by laboratory experiments.

Currently, we are focused on studying particle transportation and separation, as well as reacting processes. These investigations serve as the foundation for applications in low-carbon technologies, waste management, and smart process design and control. Ultimately, our research aims to enhance system efficiency and reliability, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impacts.
